With a cross-shaped scar on his face and a reverse blade sword at his side, Kenshin is forced to fight to protect his friends, uphold justice, and to repent for his sins.

Rurouni Kenshin, the wandering samurai. A manslayer in his past, he now repents for his sins by helping those he comes across and by holding true to his vow to never kill again. The story of Kenshin is set in the meiji era and begins in Tokyo where Kenshin meets up with Kaoru.

Kenshin decides to settle down for a while, but unfortunately for him, his peace never lasts. His former life and his reputation as the Battousai, the manslayer, has made Kenshin numerous enemies. He is also well known by officials and is often asked for his help in dealing with serious threats to the government.

Spanning 95 episodes, the series is broken down into multiple story arcs that involve a variety of characters and truly memorable villains. "Kenshin's Group" is of course the focal point of the series and their adventures together form a strong bond of friendship that makes Rurouni Kenshin the great series that it is. Kenshin, Kaoru, Sanosuke and Yahiko all make a noticable change through the series as they come to rely on each other. Aside from all the action, the series is also full of fun times as well. Almost every episode is guaranteed to make you smile or laugh.

I am very fond of this anime, but I must point out that the series piques to its highpoint a litte over half way through the series during the Kyoto/Shishio arc. After that there are still three or four more arcs covering an additional 40 episodes, but none of them live up to the standard the Kyoto arc set. Serious fans might also be dissapointed in the way the series ends too, with the focal point being placed elsewhere, Kenshin becomes more or less a secondary character. (These episodes reminded me of "Slayers Try" and Gourry without his light sword, it just wasn't right.)

Overall, Kenshin is an amazing series in quality, humor, action and plot. I definitely recommend watching it (at least through the Kyoto arc).
