Resident Evil. One of the first great survival horror series. Thankfully, its still doing great today, as this excellent re-release of the old Dreamcast version is looking better than ever on Gamecube.
Plot: 8/10
Claire Redfield arrived in Raccoon City to search for her lost brother, Chris. What she found was a city infested with Zombies. Along with a police officer named Leon Kennedy, she managed to escape. But that was only a prelude of what was to come.
3 months later, Claire has been caught infiltrating the Paris laboratory of the Umbrella Corporation, the corporation responsible for the Raccoon City outbreak. She is knocked out, and wakes up in a cell at the Umbrella Corporation's island prison. And thats where the game begins...
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are looking better than ever on the Gamecube. They have they deliciously murky and morose feel to them, and the blood/gore effects are very realistic.
Gameplay: 10/10
Perfect. Its not a pure boring shooter like RE3, but there aren't an overload of puzzles either. Its the perfect Survival Horror game.
Controls: 10/10
Smooth and accessible. Everything feels like its where it should be, and with the help of the awesome Gamecube controller, everything is just that much better.
Replay Value: 8/10
There are so many different orders in which you can play this game. You can choose to do different rooms and such first, later, e.t.c. There is also the alternate endings based on how well you play, so that is a definite bonus.
Overall: 9.5/10
A wonderful, wonderful survival horror. Not quite as scary as it could be, but still a perfectly balanced zombie hunting experience.
