Gene Starwind is a man that wants to make a name for himself. To be known throughout space and revered as a true Outlaw. Together with Jim Hawking, they work small bit jobs until the day they hit it big.
As fate would have it, Gene and Jim come into possession of a ship and name it the Outlaw Star. This unique ship, created by the joint collaboration of the pirates and the space police, was made discreetly and for the sole purpose of finding the fabled Galactic Layline, the ultimate treasure.
What better way for Gene to hit it big than to find the one thing coveted above all? Joined by Melfina (Vital to the Outlaw Star's operations; she integrates with the ship for navigational control), Gene and Jim are headed for many adventures.
Each episode begins with a brief prologue explaining details of the series, such as the differences between cyborgs, robots and AI; character profiles; or a better understanding of the functionality of grappler ships.
The crew of the Outlaw Star: The assassin Twilight Suzuka, the immortal Ctral-Ctral Asia Clan-Clan, the McDougal brothers. Unique characters like these are what set Outlaw Star above traditional animes. The development of the characters and their interactions are truly great.
