This game was a real disappointment, so promising, the basic idea it self was even promising.

4 Heroes go and fight the legions of evil and undead who are controlled by 6 classic monsters from Film, Books, comics and even music. But sadly, this game only delivered great character design and even some would disagree on that.

The game in it's self is hack and slash, but it gets boring even for a hack and slash. I'm a fan of those, but this was just boring. For one player it had a great idea, you play as all 4 heroes, switching from one to the other, while you play as one the others will help you, BUT only when you bring the fight STRAIGHT to them, and even then they will stop fighting.

You do get to build your character(s) up in levels, but it seems you don't earn anything. There is no voice acting, which for some reason seems to add to it's cheesiness, the sounds themselves are nothing to brag about. I did like the chain sound when you pressed pause, but only because it was accompanied by 4 chains snapping together to form the pause screen.

The controls are very simple and boring, basically one attack button, theres a magic button and a jump button, theres a combination of buttons(2) where you can use a special magic, also you can combine magic with one of the other heroes, and you can change it up to see the results you get.

The graphics are sad, they really could have been better. The opening animation (animated no computer graphics) was impressive, but a real let down considering the great job that was done. In the spawn animated TV series for HBO (Mcfarlane is the creator of Spawn) the animation would have done better to serve as a trailer for a set of short movies, or one large movie featuring the monsters. The ending of the movie was cheesy, but OK for the feel of the game I suppose.

The character designs are something great about this game, the monsters are the best, the heroes are generic, but still cool nonetheless.

Extras, whew this is where the game is excellent, it has interviews with Mcfarlane about the monsters that you can unlock as you progress through the game. The features would have been better belonging to a direct to video DVD release.

Multiplayer, ok so DO NOT BELIEVE IT when it says there is a 4 player co-op mode, it's just you and 3 friends playing through a hack and slash dungeon, NO STORY mode while that would be fun normally, but not when your excited about playing against the monsters themselves with 1 or more friends. There is a fighting mode for Multi player, but it's not that fun. It got boring about 5 minuets in to it.

COBRA ? says he gives it a 4 out of 10, I suppose thats good enuff, but I recommend it for maybe something to pass the time away and see the interviews with Mcfarlane.

Recommened games are Dynasty warriors, and Gaunlet Legends: Dark legacy (4 player mode against the comp IN story mode). Both for PS2.
