THE SAGA CONTINUES...

Homeworld 2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans and their leader Karan S'jet. Many thought their hardships would end when they returned to Hiigara, yet fate has not been so kind to the Exiles. Now the Hiigarans face a new and bitter enemy, a renegade clan from the eastern fringes of the galaxy, who wield the power of the ancients. Homeworld 2 chronicles the valiant journey of the Mothership and its crew into the oldest regions of the galaxy to confront their new foe and discover the truth behind their exile. - Taken from the official Homeworld 2 website.

Oh my God....This is by far the greatest RTS game I have ever played...normally I stick to medieval fantasy style, but this is a uber-futuristic, Starcraft style RTS game. In my opinion, it Pwnz SC. Its your typical real-time strat. game, you click on your units, move them here, there, collect this, kill that, build this, upgrade that, etc. But it utilizes fully 3D space, no more 2 dimensional movement with pretty pre-rendered BG to make it look like space, no, it is completely 3D, your camera can pan a fully 360 degrees all around and in any direction, revolving around your units.

I will say that it has a slight learning curve, but if your used to these kinds of games, then it shouldnt take more than the tutorial and a couple, single games to get you used to it.

Please, I'm begging anyone with interest and a decent computer to take the time to download this demo, it has a full tutorial and features two levels from the campaign. The best part is that it's also online so whomever gets it, I would like to play against ^_^ I know Seraph plays RTS's so I know she will appreciate this.

All in all, these are the scores I've given it.

Sound: 8

The sound in this game is wonderful. Crisp, clear, futuristic sound effects from pulsar cannons to missile collision on the outisde hull, its beautiful. The only gripe I have is that I think they should have incorporated more voices, every unit has the same voice, (though well done), besides your Mothership itself.

Music: 9

The "music" in this game is actually more along the lines of futuresque, background sounds that make up it's exquisite atmosphere, keeping you enthralled in not only the game itself, but in the fictitious world this game creates for you.

Graphics: 9

The graphics in this game are extremely well done for ANY RTS. Each individual unit is highly detailed. The clutter and space debris can be found randomly all over a map, and though it doesnt get in your way really, it provides an excellent atmosphere during a dogfight or during peaceful expansion. Everything runs smoothly and rarely do i see any graphic lines.

Control: 8

The controls are hard to learn at first, but once you get the hang of things and really get into it, you feel like you're really there and not wrestling with the mouse to get the right angle of view, or sticking post-it notes the side of your monitor to remember what keys do what.

Camera: 7

If anything, this will be what gets most people when they first play it, I know it pissed me off more than once. Given, you're in a fully 3-dimensional space, you can imagine you are going to end up in some pretty bizarre camera angles, but fear not, like I said, after a games you will certainly get the hang of it. Once you do, you will realize you are able to manaipulate the camera in any way to view your unit, or even your opponents. The best time to do this? During physical confrontations it's fun as hell to watch them soar past each other, firing rapidly, then circle back around in perfect formation to make another pass, meanwhile both side's individual units are dropping like flies right next to them.

Gameplay: 10

The gameplay is quite smooth and everything flows properly without hesitation. Even the load times are quick and painless. I still believe alot more can be done, though it's content is of an arguably decent size, I frown at the fact that there are only two sides to choose from, the Hiigarans and the Vaygr. But this is more than enough to hold me over until the messiah of games along. I'll be here for awhile But I'm content with this prized jewel.

Fun Factor: 10

This game is immensely fun!!! I know that may seem a tad opinionated, but anyone who enjoys RTS games will surely agree with me. This is a kind of game I have been waiting for. I guarantee you will find yourself entranced for over an hour on one level and not even realize it, I know I did. Perhaps I'm just easily amused, but I personally believe theres much more to it than that. Download this demo, you will not be disappointed.

Overall: 10

I know that is quite a gracious score, and coming from me, that's a miracle. But I thoroughly enjoy Homeworld 2.

Please, download this beautiful game and give it a try, let us know what you think about it after a few games. Major kudos to Sierra!
