Recently I've been watching alot of Anime. This will be the first in a series of anime reviews by me, the Great GRX. For my first anime review I have chosen Azumanga Daioh.
Ahh, to be young and in school again.
Azumanga Daioh follows a group of friends through their lives in highschool. But these aren't your typical highschool girls. They're wacky. They're zany. One of them is even only 10 years old.
The comedy is fairly slapstick but in a way that works. This isn't a serious anime but it's still fun to watch. But don't be fooled. Just because the story doesn't get serious doesn't mean that the animation is all chibi-fied. While there are some chibi moments, most of the animation is done in good quality.
The cast of characters is a true odd ball bunch. Some of the ones worth mentioning are Chio-chan, the 10 year old genious, Osaka, a ditz from Osaka, Kimura-sensei, a pedophilic teacher who develops a crush on one of the students (he's also the only reoccuring male character), and Tomo-chan, a hyperactive girl who doesn't take anything seriously.
This is definatly a must see. So go watch it. NOW!
