Sledgstone November 19th, 2005, 08:23 PM This was an issue for our computers recently (Thanks to a new windows update setting). Windows XP would just restart for no apparent reason whatsoever. Well, more and more I realized it would happen when I used firefox and opened too many tabs. Well, it isn't firefox, it is windows. To disable this pointless feature, do the following:
Control Panel
> Click "Performance and Maintenance"
> Click "System"
> Click the "Advanced" tab.
> Click "Settings" In Startup and Recovery.
> Uncheck "Automatically restart" under System Failure.
And that will do it. Of course, if any of your programs freeze up your computer, you'll have to "End Task" them by hitting control-alt-delete. As for me, I'd much rather do that, than have my computer restart without warning.
I dunno if this is happening to anyone else or not, but I thought I'd share this tidbit of info to help out.
gokuDX7 November 20th, 2005, 03:24 AM ahh another "safety" option they have, there so gay. Thats like IE's Download limit. in IE and I think firefox you can only download up to 4 items at a time. Now its good for dialup users but when you have high speed you can easly download up to 7 items without issues. Gah Microsoft sucks ill leave it at that.
Sledgstone November 20th, 2005, 09:44 AM I'm just waiting for Google to make an operating system.. with their current stock cash flow, I wouldn't be surprised if they bought up some linux company and started work on it. With google's name brand popularity and financial backing, they could emerge as some competition. *hopes*
Eppy November 20th, 2005, 12:56 PM you just figured to do that now? thats the most basic thing you learn about Windows in general...i turned that off right after installation
gokuDX7 November 20th, 2005, 10:41 PM Ya it be cool if google did that but didnt they already state that there not planning on working on an OS? I think there mainly trying to take over the desktop market with all there popup blockers and menu tools.
btw there stocks droped the other day :( I lost some money lol.

Actually, I repair computers professionally and that was still valueable news to me.
Inuyasha88 November 21st, 2005, 12:36 AM Googles stock went down? This is news to me.
I have been wondering for some time if they would make an OS or a browser, which wouldn't be much of a surpise. So far they have:
Search Engine: DUH
Highspeed WIFI Internet: YES (Still building)
Commercial Airliners: EVIDENCE OF
Email: YES
ECommerce: YES
Text Messaging to Cell Phone: YES
Web Accelerator: YES
Maps: YES
Global Satelite System: YES
IM: YES
I would love to have Google make an OS.
gokuDX7 November 21st, 2005, 02:22 PM ya, It would be nice if they just teamed up with SUN. But ya if google and SUN teamed up they would be unstopable.
I have my doubts that Google would team up with an open source project like redhat but who knows they have shown support to there causes in the past.
Inuyasha88 November 22nd, 2005, 12:39 AM I did some digging on a google os, and found these links:

i've never had this problem until now. O_o Come to think of it.. I always did wonder what happened to that "Blue Screen of Death" they replaced it with a reboot.
Tanoro November 22nd, 2005, 10:25 PM I'm on WinME and I still get the blue screen on occasion.

I was on ME until two days ago, and on ME every other 3 hours I got the blue screen-_-; I hate Windows ME, it kept crashing.
Eppy November 23rd, 2005, 07:59 PM ME is complete utter garbage it should have never been made
gokuDX7 November 24th, 2005, 12:47 AM Google already has an OS so to speak. Its not a public family OS like windows, Linux or MAC but its a small OS for there racked servers for companys or users that wish to spend $17,000 or so on one of there spidering rack mounts. Google had there server ad on the news page months ago about how anyone could boost there web site or companys traffic by buying one of these and useing it. It was blue had the google logo on the frong and a small image of the command line. There is no GUI but theres still a kernal and other elements they created on there own thus there own "OS". But I think everyone else is wondering when they will make a family OS version. I still dont think they have plans for such a thing. There still boosting there server hardware and desktop tools. Google news is your friend.
